My August and September bookshelf

First and foremost I would like to note that I had this whole post typed up and ready to publish and deleted it. Ugh. So take 2…

Calling all readers. This year I have found a love for reading that I didn’t have before. Reading has turned into the thing I do when I need some quiet time or when I’m trying to avoid the many to dos of mom and wife life. LOL. So I want this to be an area where I share the books I have read during the year. This won’t be a page of summaries because you can find those anywhere, but this will be posts of things I liked about the books, things I didn’t like, and my rating of them!

To start August out I finished up the Maybe Someday series by Colleen Hoover. I will say that Maybe Not was my least favorite book and I feel like it wasn’t really necessary in the series. The book covered the backstory of the relationship of two of the characters that play a pretty big role in the series. Although I did enjoy getting to know the two better and learning how they came to be, I think their story could have been included in one of the other books instead of having a whole book to do it. I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.

The next book I read was To Die For by Lisa Grey. A team of real estate agents is given the challenge of selling a brand new beach house in Malibu with a selling commission of 1 million dollars. So if the real estate business wasn’t cutthroat before, it surely turned in it. The story unfolds the secrets and needs of the 5 agents and why they need this money and will do anything to get it. I’m not typically a thriller reader, but I have to say this one had my attention and kept it the whole time! I loved how each character shared their secrets and need for the money. There were many unexpected twists and turns and it was definitely a story I would recommend picking up! I gave this 4 out of 5 stars.

Next I listened to The Enemy by Sarah Adams. I have heard many great things about this author and I am a big romance lover, so I decided to give this book a try. I will say I don’t know if I would have finished the story had I read it instead of listened to it. It was almost an enemies to lovers story, except the two characters just pretended to dislike each other all their lives and really both liked each other. It was a strange twist. The story as a whole was cute, I was not a huge fan of the main character (a little childish if you ask me). Although it wasn’t my FAVORITE book, I do look forward to trying out some her other titles! I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.

Stop what you are doing and go buy this book! Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros is a must read. I have never been huge into fantasy, but this book created a new desire to dig into the genre. The book was action packed and the romance was top notch, it kept you on your toes from start to finish. Every setting throughout the story was so well written out and easy to picture. Then the dragons might have been my favorite part of the whole story, she did an amazing job at giving each dragon its own personality and they truly made the story! I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

To end my month and continue my fantasy era, I went on to start A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I was a little hesitant to start this series right after Fourth Wing because of how much I enjoyed it and how much hype this series had gotten. But I dove in and I was very happy I did! The book did start out a little slow for me and I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through, but I kept reading and was so happy I did. Once the book started to pick up, I literally did not want to put it down. The world building didn’t leave me feeling confused or losing interest, she did such a good job at adding in vivid details to each scene and really painting the picture for the reader. Feyre, the main character, might be my favorite of all time and the romance in the book was the perfect addition. I immediately downloaded the next book in the series after finishing this one up! I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars!

I’d love to be friends on the Goodreads app to see what you are all reading and to share my reading in real time with you! If you have any recommendations of books you’ve been loving leave it in the comments, I’d love to check them out!
